Sharon Osbourne has hit out at people commenting on her figure.
The wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne – who has always spoken openly about her size and dieting – recalled how people would “whisper” about her when she was 16 stone, which made her “angry.”
Brixton born Sharon shared on the time and how she gained weight due to having three kids “back-to-back” during an interview on American panel show The Talk this week.
The 68-year-old said: “People whisper behind your backs. It made me angry. It was like ‘I will do whatever I want to’ – and if I do not want to deal with it, then I won’t?”
“What is it to you – the size of my a***? What is going to change your life? What is it to you… I don’t sleep with you?”
“When I married my husband I was skinny,” she said.
“After three children – one each year – because they were back-to-back, we called it Irish twins, I blew up.
“And I was 230lbs and I was quite happy feeding my kids saying ‘this is great.’
“But people were saying ‘have you seen the size of her now?’; ‘oh what does she look like?’”
Giving an insight into what was going through her mind when people would make remarks about her appearance, she continued: “And it was like, ‘yeah I have got a mirror.’ I will do something about it when I want to do something about it.”
Sharon, who is now toned and trim, also touched on how her Black Sabbath star husband Ozzy was never bothered by her weight.
“But it didn’t alter my marriage to my Ozzy. When I did lose the weight, the babies kept saying to me ‘I do not like it mum’.
“And the feeling was ‘thank you.’”
In 1999 Sharon made the decision to undergo a gastric bypass procedure – something she later came to regret.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said: “I felt like such a cheat when I had that band on my stomach. It makes you vomit the whole time. Nothing goes down because it goes out.”
Eventually, in 2006 Sharon had the band removed.
Following the reversal, the pounds slowly started to creep back on again until Sharon decided to take action ahead of her milestone 60th birthday.
The presenter was approached to try the trendy Atkins diet, as favoured by the likes of Jennifer Aniston and the Kardashians.
Sharon went on to lose two stone in just three months on the low carb plan.
“It has been a life-changing experience,’ Sharon said of her new regime. “It’s really not a diet. It’s a lifestyle change.”
To ensure she sticks to the plan, Sharon says she doesn’t deny herself the odd treat when she feels like it.
She explained: “I’d be fibbing if I said I don’t cheat because I do cheat. I cheat a lot on my diet.
“We all do, but I don’t guilt myself out because the next day I’ll start with my Atkins breakfast sandwich and I’m right back on it.”
