Russell Brand saved a baby wallaby’s life – just moments after his pet dog killed its mother.
The comedian, 46, was walking his German Shepherd, named Bear, near his £4.1 million home in Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.
The town is well known for its population of wild wallabies, which are believed to have originated from a group of cute marsupials who escaped from a private collection twenty years ago.
Dad-of-two Russell, who is a vegan and has not eaten meat since he was 14, is said to have been left very upset by the incident, although he did manage to rescue the vulnerable joey.

A local resident told The Sun that the horrific run-in with the wallaby, and Russell’s life-saving actions, had been the talk of the town.
The source said: “Absolutely no one is blaming Russell or his dog — it’s just a horrible accident.
“In fact Russell was the hero because he managed to save the little joey.
“It could have been far worse if he hadn’t stepped in so quickly.
“He is a very caring man with animals — he has plenty of pets and they’re all his babies.
“I understand he’s devastated over what happened. It’s really sad.”
It’s been reported in the past that Bear once killed a sheep.
Russell has described the dog as “a tornado of fur” and a “beautiful hooligan”, and often posts cute photos and videos of him on social media.
Reformed hell raiser Russell lives in the leafy town with his second wife Laura Gallacher and their two daughters.
He was previously married to Katy Perry, but they split in 2011, just fourteen months after tying the knot.
She later revealed that he told her wanted a divorce via text message.
However, his marriage to Laura appears to be much more harmonious.
The couple were an item as teenagers before things ended unexpectedly, but they decided to give things another go when they bumped into each other randomly at a canal in 2015.
Two years later in 2017, Russell and Laura tied the knot but there’s more than meets the eye to their epic love story.
Laura, 33, delved into the history of their romance on the Made by Mammas podcast as she detailed they “immediately knew” their relationship was going to be serious when they began dating again.
She admitted: “I hadn’t seen Russell for years… I came down the steps to the canal and Russell was standing there.
“We both immediately knew it was going to be serious.”
His wife added that she told him: “I think I just want to be a mum.”
The Mirror has contacted Russell’s representatives for comment.
