Meghan Markle’s father Thomas is set to appear on Good Morning Britain on 9 March, to speak to Piers Morgan.
The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged dad will respond to the 39 year old and her 36 year old husband Prince Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, which airs on ITV tonight.
Piers, 55, announced the news on his Twitter page alongside a photo of Meghan cuddling up to her 76 year old dad. The TV presenter told his 7.7million followers: “UPDATE: Meghan Markle trashed her dad on US TV today.
“On tomorrow’s @GMB, Thomas Markle will give his first exclusive interview in response.”
Meghan hasn’t been in contact with her dad for several years, forcing him to miss her wedding after he was exposed for selling paparazzi pictures of her.
In her bombshell interview with Oprah, the brunette beauty said she couldn’t “fathom” causing harm to her one year old son Archie the way her own father did when he worked with the tabloids in 2018.
When asked if it felt like “betrayal”, Meghan told Oprah “if we were to use the word betrayal” it would be in relation to when she asked her dad directly about his involvement and he replied: “No, absolutely not.”
Meghan, who recently unveiled a brand new family snap of herself with 36 year old husband Prince Harry and son Archie, went on to explain that she’s found it difficult to reconcile with Thomas after what they went through.
The former Suits actress also spoke out about her mental health during her pregnancy with Archie, explaining that she had suicidal thoughts five months in.
During the interview, Meghan claimed that she went to “the institution” for help over her suicidal thoughts, but she wasn’t allowed.
Meghan candidly admitted she felt “ashamed” to speak about her suicidal thoughts at the time but “knew that if she didn’t say it she would do it.”
The former actress claimed she asked one of the “most senior” people if she could get help but was told “it wouldn’t be good for the institution.
She went on to explain that she wasn’t able to be alone during her pregnancy and said the thought of suicide was “constant”.
Meghan also revealed that she spent an appearance at the Cirque du Soleil premiere at the Royal Albert all in January 2019 “weeping”.
She said she spent the time that the lights were down “in tears” before composing herself and smiling when the lights came up.
