Love Island’s Hugo Hammond has given his opinion on the rising situation between Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish in the villa.
Appearing on Heat’s Under the Duvet alongside co-stars from the show Lucinda Strafford and Lillie Haynes, Hugo spoke about Jake’s approach with Liberty as she begins to have doubts.
Asked if Jake and Liberty have a chance at winning this season, Hugo responded: “I’m ‘Milliam [Millie and Liam] for the win, but I think with Jake, he needs to like not just say ‘you’re my girlfriend’.
“Not ‘oh you’re my girlfriend, you’re my girlfriend’, be like “You know I’m into you”, give her compliments.
“Bit of back and forth, say like what he likes about her rather than just, ‘You’re my girlfriend, I wouldn’t do that’.”
Lucinda and Lillie nodded along with Hugo as he gave his opinion on the situation.
Jake and Liberty have been together since the start of the show and are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend after Jake popped the question.
Doubts began to fester though as Liberty was shown a clip of Jake confiding in the guys about how he doesn’t want to “rip her clothes off”.
Jake was also seen encouraging the other guys to get with new people while away in Casa Amor mid season, causing a rift between him and Faye Winter.
As Liberty approached Jake with her worries, fans mocked his main defense as he said “you’re my girlfriend” multiple times instead of calming her worries.
In the teaser for tonight’s episode, Liberty is seen taking her worries to Jake once more after the heart rate challenge last night had Millie’s show getting his heart racing more than Liberty.
Jake is seen saying: “Ever since the movie night onwards, I feel like it’s just not been the same.
“Millie’s my type, Mary’s my type, I know a good looking girl, I appreciate a good-looking girl, but you’re my girlfriend.”
Liberty was also seen talking to Jake about her worries in last night’s episode after Jake made her wait to go and see Kaz, who fans suspect he has a thing for, causing her to think he’s playing up to the cameras.
She spoke to Jake, saying: “I know you say sometimes, like, remember we are on a TV show but at the same time what makes it good is just you being yourself, do you know what I mean?
“And tonight, me wanting to run up and hug Kaz as soon as she came down the stairs, it was a natural reaction for me.”
Liberty’s worries about Jake could be reaching a boiling point as he continues to tell her she’s his girlfriend and seemingly play up to the cameras.
