Jake Cornish has insisted he didn’t have a game plan to win Love Island.
The 24 year old water engineer walked out of the Love Island villa alongside Liberty Poole after their romance crumbled earlier this week.
But, during his time in the villa, viewers were suspicious of some of Jake’s actions – including him encouraging some of the lads to stray in Casa Amor.
Now, Jake has responded to fan backlash over his actions in the villa.
Jake said that if he did have a game plan, he would have won the series.

He told the Mirror: “I’ve just got to be true to myself – if I was trying to have a game plan, I think I’d still be there, I wouldn’t have left.
“Actions speak for themselves. I’ve stepped aside from the people who have got something good going, let them enjoy their moment.”
And, if the Weston-Super-Mare lad had bagged the £50,000 cash prize, he would have split it with Liberty.
“There’s no way I’d keep that to myself,” he said. “My whole journey has been Lib.
“Lib would have shared it. She only sees good in people, she only sees positive. She hasn’t got a bad bone in her body. So 100% sure she would have shared it because our journey was together.”
Jake and Liberty were coupled up from the start of the series and were even a fan favourite to win at one point.
But, cracks in their relationship began to show when Liberty saw a clip of Jake saying he didn’t want to “rip her clothes off” during the Mad Movies challenge.
Their romance was very much on the rocks and, a series of small comments made by Jake to Liberty, including her messiness giving him the “ick”, sparked her to end their romance.
After going on their final date of the series, despite no longer being a couple, Jake and Liberty decided to leave the villa.
Jake has now said he was “just telling the truth” in the shock clip shown in Mad Movies.
But, has insisted he was not trying to change Liberty, although it came across that way to fans.
He explained: “It’s not a nice feeling to think that things I’ve said is coming across that I’m trying to make someone change.

“I’m not. Liberty is Lib. That’s the girl I fell in love with. I’m not trying to change her.”
Following their emotional split and decision to leave the villa, Jake has also said the pair “ended on very good terms” and hasn’t ruled out getting back together with Liberty.
He said: “Will it go strong again on the outside? Who knows? Definitely we’ll keep in contact.”
