London commuters were in for quite a surprise after they overheard Iain Stirling’s voice advertising Love Island over the tannoy system.
It appears that Love Island fans were left baffled after they picked up on the announcements being made at London’s Oxford Circus station.
Several tube commuters have since taken to social media to express their surprise – and sometimes their horror – about the ITV adverts blasting through the station.
It appears that producers have arranged for the signature Love Island theme tune to sound on the speaker system, alongside several announcements made by voice-over Iain Stirling.
“They’ve literally got a love island tube announcement where Ian Sterling tells everyone to get back behind the yellow line and says ‘that’s my type on paper’,” wrote one Twitter used.
Another added: “Why am I hearing Iain Stirlings #loveisland voice as the information tannoy at Oxford Circus tube station? Very funny, but only after realising I wasn’t in some sort of weird love island dream.
Others, however, didn’t seem too pleased about the advertisements and expressed their frustration on social media.
“In case the constant announcements in tube stations aren’t annoying enough, Oxford Circus station is playing adverts for Love Island on the tannoy. Hell exists, folks. Hell exists,” added one critic.
Another said: “I like Love Island, but hearing Iain Stirling’s voice at Oxford Circus tube station telling me to ‘couple-up with the handrail’ is not what I need at 7:30 in the morning.”
Love Island 2021 is just days away from premiering on ITV2, and fans can’t wait to catch up on their daily dose of romance and drama after the series was postponed last year because of the pandemic.
In the run-up to the much-anticipated show, producers named 11 sexy singletons that will make up the original cast when they head to the Mallorca villa on Monday.
As well as taking part in several press interviews ahead of their ITV2 debut, it was reported that the islanders had already jetted out to the Spanish island, had their phones confiscated and were quarantining before the show.
While the show is days away, it was also recently revealed that Love Island 2021 applications are still open for bombshell arrivals.
Fans of the show can still apply to spice up the Majorcan villa this summer, as the likes of Maura Higgins, Joanna Chimonides, and Theo Campbell did when they entered the show halfway through.
For a chance to be one of the bombshell arrivals, all you need to do is fill in your details here.
