The Keeping Up With the Kardashian stars’ luxury shapewear brand SKIMS has bene announced as the official designer of the underwear for female members of the USA Olympic and Paralympic teams
Kim Kardashian West announced on social media that her shapewear brand Skims will supply the official undergarments, loungewear and pyjamas for the female members of Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
The reality star, 40, revealed the big news on her Instagram and Twitter, sharing her excitement over the collection along with multiple photos of the pieces being modelled by sports superstars like Alex Morgan and Dalilah Muhammad.
‘I am honoured to announce that @skims is designing the official team USA undergarments, pyjamas and lounge wear for the athletes this year in Tokyo,’ she wrote.
Kim also told her followers that the same pieces will also be available for the public to buy online as part of a special a capsule collection, which will launch on July 12.
The first photos of the designs show high-waisted women’s underwear and sports bras, boxers, shorts, tank tops, leggings, socks, and T-shirts, all in neutral tones like beige, gray, white, and navy.
The designs bear images of the American flag and the Olympic logo, as well as the words ‘Team USA.’
Kim even enlisted several big-name Team USA athletes to model the designs in the campaign, including soccer star Alex Morgan, WNBA star A’ja Wilson, Paralympian Scout Bassett, track and field champ Dalilah Muhammad, and swimmer Haley Anderson.
‘We’re so proud to be supporting female athletes during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo,” reality star-turned-entrepreneur Kim said in a statement.
“These women are incredible role models for younger girls, including my own daughters, showing them that anything is possible if you work hard enough.
“SKIMS is designed to empower women to feel their best every day and we’re excited to work with Team USA to help spread this message.”
Paralympic athlete Scout Bassett called the capsule collection “a DREAM,” adding that she was “thrilled to be part of the new @skims Team USA capsule that celebrates female athletes!”
On Instagram, Kim went on to explain that the Olympics are close to her heart, as her stepparent Caitlyn Jenner was a gold medal-winning decathlete. In the social post, she recalled attending Olympic trials and track events as a child, when her mother Kris Jenner was still married to the former athlete.
“As I would watch the athletes compete, I would grow to understand the dedication and honour being a part of the Olympics embodied,” Kardashian West wrote, adding: “Every moment I’ve spent admiring the strength and energy of the Olympians from the sidelines came full circle.”
It is unclear how much the licensing deal between SKIMS and the U.S. Olympic Committee is worth.
Though SKIMS is now an official Team USA brand, star has not said whether the official Olympics collection would be made in the USA — and the rest of the brand’s products are not manufactured in America.
Some items from this year’s collection are also available to buy in stores and online.
