Courtney Love has revealed that she almost died last year after suffering from anaemia.
The rockstar, 56, saw her weight plummet to just 97lb (44kg) as she told of her extreme health problems which left her “debilitated, in indescribable pain” last August.
The singer – who was previously married to Kurt Cobain – said she was close to dying from anaemia, a condition in which you lack healthy red blood cells to carry enough oxygen to your body’s tissues.
Telling fans she’s “been sad, and extremely sick”, Courtney opened up about her terrifying health scare.
- “Debilitated, in indescribable pain and in August at 97 pounds almost died in hospital from anemia (hemoglobin I had none),” she wrote.
“I was stigmatized for being an addict for 9 months by many ill-equipped doctors…and quacks,” before finding an “empathic wise pain management doctor” that left her feeling grateful.
“I’m so good now,” she went on, explaining that CBD oil “removed ALMOST ALL the physical symptoms” including her pain.
“Bear with me as I start to try and have a blast and help others every pain free day !!! I’ve been basically bedridden. I thought I was broken for sure this time. But I’m ok!
“So I’m just waking and I’m frail. I’ll be strong again soon ! Not as always because this is the period to be mellow and not waste energy on anger, etc.”
“Dropping the rock as we say. A new sort of strong with wisdom and more empathy than I had for people with physical illness,” she added.
Love ended the lengthy caption with a series of hashtags, with one providing a clue as to what made her so ill last year, “#crohnsdisease”.
