Britney Spears’ dad Jamie Spears has insisted her conservatorship is in his singer daughter’s “best interest”.
Jamie Spears, 68, has been Hit Me Baby One More Time singer Britney’s conservator since 2008, meaning he approves her major financial and life decisions.
Singer Britney, 39, was the recent subject of a documentary Framing Britney which looked into her fame, battle with mental health issues and her consequent conservatorship.
It also looks into the #FreeBritney movement and how the protestors feel they are supporting Britney’s fight to get her father removed as her conservator.

Since the airing of the documentary in the US and UK earlier this month and further pressure from protestors, Jamie has released a statement to react to criticisms over his role in his daughter’s legal arrangement.
Last year, a court ruled that Jamie, who was recently slammed by Britney’s boyfriend, should continue to act as a co-conservator for his daughter alongside private bank Bessemer Trust, despite Britney’s urges to have her father removed from her conservatorship.
A statement released by his lawyer Vivian Lee Thoreen said: “My client, Jamie Spears, has diligently and professionally carried out his duties as one of Britney’s conservators and his love for his daughter and dedication to protecting her is clearly apparent to the court.
“My client looks forward to working with Bessemer to continue an investment strategy in the best interests of his daughter.
“The probate court is highly experienced in these matters and takes them very seriously.”
The court’s decision comes after Jamie submitted a proposed order to argue that some of his powers were stripped away when Bessemer Trust became a co-conservator in a hearing in November.
Following the release of the documentary Britney, who recently received an apology from ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, said she was learning to be a “normal person”.
Singer Britney shared a video of herself performing her hit single Toxic during her Piece Of Me Las Vegas residency with her 27.5million Instagram followers alongside a lengthy statement.
The star wrote: “Can’t believe this performance of Toxic is from 3 years ago!!!
“I’ll always love being on stage…. but I am taking the time to learn and be a normal person…..
“I love simply enjoying the basics of every day life!!!!,” she sweetly continued.
“Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories!!!! We all have so many different bright beautiful lives!!!
“Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens.”
